How to Create Animated Charts and Graphs in CapCut (Full Tutorial)

Static images are a thing of the past. If you want to keep your viewers engaged, especially in educational or data-driven content, you need movement. Most creators think they need complex software like After Effects to create sleek, animated data visualizations, but you can actually do it all directly inside CapCut.

Whether you are showing off business growth, YouTube stats, or simple comparisons, CapCut’s built-in stickers feature makes it incredibly easy to turn boring numbers into dynamic animations.

Where to Find the Chart Tools

The “Charts” feature in CapCut is actually tucked away inside the Stickers menu. Once you have a project open, follow these simple steps to find them:

  1. Navigate to Stickers: Look in the upper-left corner of the interface and click the Stickers tab.
  2. Locate the Charts Category: Scroll through the sidebar menu until you see the Charts icon.
  3. Choose Your Style: CapCut offers a surprisingly wide variety of templates, including:
    • Bar Charts: Perfect for side-by-side comparisons.
    • Line Charts: Ideal for showing growth over time.
    • Pie Charts & Progress Donuts: Great for breakdowns and percentages.
    • Word Clouds: For emphasizing specific topics or keywords.

Customizing Your Data (Two Ways)

Once you select a chart (for example, a line chart), you have two options for how to populate it with your specific data.

Option 1: Manual Entry

If you only have a few data points, you can simply click on the chart in your timeline and look at the right-hand panel. You can manually type in values for the X and Y axes, change the colors to match your brand, and update the labels. You’ll see the graph animate in real-time as you change the numbers.

Option 2: The Excel Shortcut (Power User Tip)

For more complex data—like tracking YouTube subscriber growth over several months—manual entry is too slow.

Instead, you can drag and drop an Excel file (.csv or .xlsx) directly into the CapCut data panel. If you have your data pre-populated in a spreadsheet, CapCut will automatically read those columns and build the animation for you. This is a massive time-saver for anyone creating professional business reports or detailed tech reviews.

Fine-Tuning the Animation

Once your data is in, you aren’t stuck with the default look. In the settings panel, you can:

  • Adjust Speed: Change how fast the lines draw or how quickly the bars grow.
  • Style the Axis: Modify font sizes, colors, and the range of the X and Y labels.
  • Scale and Position: Treat the chart like any other video element. You can move it to the corner for a “picture-in-picture” effect or expand it to fill the entire screen.

Final Results

After you’ve customized your data and appearance, simply click “Add to Timeline.” CapCut will render the animation, and you’ll have a professional, live-action graph that helps tell the story of your data far better than a static screenshot ever could.
